SUMMARY
In 2023 I performed a condition survey of outdoor stone sculpture at Villa la Pietra in Florence, Italy under the supervision of George Wheeler. The Villa and its collections, as well as its Renaissance-style garden, are listed as cultural heritage under the protection of the Italian Ministry of Fine Arts. The garden contains a significant collection of stone sculpture, most of which was purchased by the Acton family in the early twentieth century. The survey tracked surface disintegration, biological growth, structural problems, support condition, previous losses and repairs, treatment priority, and care recommendations.
